Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the nutritive value of ensiled seafood processing wastes (fish and crab) mixed with wheat straw for ruminant feeding.
  • To compare the effects of different fish and crab waste ratios in silage on nutrient digestibility and intake in sheep.

  • Thirty-six crossbred wethers were fed diets containing basal feed alone or supplemented with various ensiled mixtures of fish waste/straw or crab waste/straw.
  • Evaluated dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) digestibility, nitrogen retention, phosphorus (P) absorption, and dry matter intake (DMI).
