A novel sutureless technique for cholangiojejunostomy offers a simple and reliable alternative to traditional methods. This approach demonstrated feasibility with no mortalities or direct complications in a small patient cohort.

Background:

Conventional hand-sewn bilioenteric anastomosis is time-consuming and may be associated with complications.
There is a clinical need for efficient and reliable sutureless techniques for biliary reconstruction.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe a novel sutureless technique for cholangiojejunostomy.
To evaluate the safety and feasibility of this sutureless method in a clinical setting.

A retrospective review of 11 patients who underwent sutureless cholangiojejunostomy (choledochojejunostomy and hepaticojejunostomy) between April 2005 and July 2006.
Prospective data collection and analysis of operative time, outcomes, and follow-up.

Intraoperative Video Consultation Following Bile Duct Transection Facilitates Direct OR Transfer for Robotic Hepaticojejunostomy at Tertiary Center

Main Results:

Successful sutureless cholangiojejunostomy was achieved in all 11 patients.
Median operative time was 13 minutes, with no mortalities or procedure-related postoperative morbidities.
At a mean follow-up of 8.2 months, no anastomotic strictures were observed, except for one case of obstructive jaundice due to tumor recurrence.

Conclusions:

Sutureless cholangiojejunostomy is a simple, reliable, and feasible procedure.
Further large-scale studies with extended follow-up are warranted to establish this technique as a routine surgical option.
