Skin cancer is a type of cancer that occurs when there is an abnormal growth of skin cells, usually triggered by damage to the DNA within the skin cells. Background:

White sponge nevus is a rare autosomal dominant hereditary disorder.
Characterized by white, thickened plaques on mucosal surfaces.

Observation:

Lesions are typically bilateral, asymptomatic, and present on oral, esophageal, or genital mucosa.
Manifestations can occur from birth through adolescence, with a higher prevalence in females.

Findings:

The condition is benign with no reported cases of malignancy.
Tissue changes are described as corrugated or velvety plaques.

Implications:

Differential diagnosis is crucial to exclude potentially malignant oral white lesions.
Management focuses on diagnosis and reassurance due to the benign nature of white sponge nevus.
