Abstract:
In this paper data on nine tibial tuberosity fractures were presented according to all types in Watson-Jones classification and one fracture of type IV according to Curtis. Two more fractures were presented that fulfilled clinical and radiological standards of the knee's extensory structures injury, but were not tibial tuberosity fractures. In operative treatment screws were used as well as Kirschner wires or both these devices together. The fracture's influence on knee motion and activity of proximal tibial growth cartilage were examined. All patients got back into full activity as before the fracture and except one case, there was no fracture's influence on proximal tibial growth cartilage found. In successful treatment achieving of the fracture's healing in best anatomical position and early physiotherapy are essential.

Minor fractures with no bone displacement are treated by immobilizing the fractured bone using a cast or splint. However, in the case of fractures with displaced bones, the broken bones are repositioned before immobilization to ensure successful healing without deformation and loss of function. The realignment of fractured bone ends is performed through a process called reduction. If the procedure...
