Summary

Sudarshan Kriya and related practices (SK&P), a form of yoga and yogic breathing, significantly reduced anxiety, depression, and stress while boosting optimism in healthy adults. This pilot study suggests a feasible protocol for larger trials investigating wellness improvements.

  • To assess the feasibility and safety of a 6-week SK&P intervention.

  • A 6-week intensive program of Sudarshan Kriya and related practices (SK&P) was administered to 55 healthy adult volunteers.
  • A control group (n=48) engaged in daily relaxation in an armchair for the same period.
  • Standardized instruments measured anxiety, depression, optimism, stress, energy, and altered states of consciousness before and after the intervention.
