[Computer-aided 3-dimensional reconstruction of the ossicular chains and their mechanic models]

This study was intended to reconstruct the human ossicular chains and their neighbouring structures by a image processing work station (IPWS). The reconstructed structures were placed in an X, Y, Z coordinate system and every point of the structures had its X, Y, Z values. This technique can reveal 3-D image of the biological structures in detail. It can also provide the quantitative measurement and the mechanic model of the ossicular chain. The mechanism of the ossicular chain in the conduction of sound was studied and discussed.
