Intraoral sebaceous carcinoma.

Background:

Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm originating from sebaceous glands.
Intraoral presentation of sebaceous carcinoma is exceptionally uncommon.

Observation:

A case of sebaceous carcinoma presenting as a distinct mass in the left buccal mucosa is described.
Light and electron microscopy were utilized to characterize the tumor.
This represents the first reported instance of intraoral sebaceous carcinoma in English-language literature.

Findings:

Detailed light and electron microscopic findings are presented.
The histologic differential diagnosis for this intraoral tumor is discussed.
Clinical behavior and therapeutic strategies for sebaceous carcinoma are reviewed.
