Factor V Leiden mutation and type 1 diabetes mellitus

Factor V Leiden mutation and activated protein C resistance are not linked to type 1 diabetes or its complications. These factors do not appear to significantly influence thrombosis risk in diabetic patients.

- These specific genetic and functional markers of thrombophilia do not appear to play a major role in type 1 diabetes-related thrombosis.
- Further research may be needed to identify other contributing factors to the heightened thrombotic risk in type 1 diabetes.
