Association between heroin dependence and 5-HT2A receptor gene polymorphisms

Genetic variations in serotonin receptor (5-HT2A) and transporter (5-HTT) genes are linked to heroin dependence. The 5-HT2A gene may increase susceptibility, potentially with a synergistic effect from 5-HTT genes.
