Construction and Characterization of External Cavity Diode Lasers for Atomic Physics

We achieved 1.1-W continuous-wave output power from a diode-laser array-pumped chromium-doped lithium strontium aluminum germanium oxide (Cr:LiSAF) laser. This method enables efficient pumping of low-gain solid-state lasers with reduced heat.
