Abstract:
Congenital and acquired disorders of the enteric neuromusculature are relatively uncommon in childhood, with the exception of Hirschsprung disease. Despite this, a number of histologically well-defined phenotypes of enteric neuromuscular disease are now recognised in paediatric populations, essentially comprising enteric neuropathies and enteric myopathies. This classification is briefly discussed.
