[Etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of stroke in women]
The review addresses the peculiarities of etiology and pathogenesis of stroke in women. The most important and even unique risk factors for stroke, their prevalence and mechanisms of action are presented. Etiology, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of the factors and states are described. Presented are also some features of diagnosis and treatment of the states that cause disturbances of blood circulation during pregnancy such as cerebral venous thrombosis, cerebral arterial occlusion, subarachnoid haemorrhage, paradoxic cerebral emboli, eclampsia. An essential part of the report is devoted to pathogenetic relations between stroke and usage of oral contraceptives, postmenopausal hormonal changes, migraine, vascular disorders of primary inflammation genesis, fibrous and muscle dysplasia, mitral valve prolapse.
