Tuberculosis of the breast is rare but can mimic cancer. Ultrasonography is crucial for distinguishing tuberculous abscess from malignancy, aiding accurate diagnosis.

Background:

Tuberculosis (TB) is a prevalent infectious disease globally.
Isolated breast involvement, known as tuberculous mastitis, is an uncommon manifestation of TB.

Observation:

A 50-year-old woman presented with a breast abscess.
Mammography suggested breast carcinoma, posing a diagnostic challenge.

Findings:

The patient had a primary tuberculous abscess of the breast.
Microscopic identification of tubercle bacilli is the gold standard for diagnosis.
Ultrasonography proved vital in differentiating the abscess from malignant tumors.

Implications:

This case highlights the importance of considering rare infections like tuberculosis in breast lesions.
