BMI vs. waist circumference for identifying vascular risk

Waist circumference (WC) independently predicts cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in overweight women, but not men or individuals with normal or obese body mass index (BMI). WC offers limited additional vascular risk prediction beyond BMI for most populations.
