Abstract:
Professor Chourrout graduated from the Ecole Normale Superieure de Saint-Cloud and received his Ph.D.from the University of Paris VI. He worked asa scientist at the French Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA)doing research on trout genetics for more than 10 years. During his last 5 years at INRA, Professor Chourrout established a medaka group as part of this laboratory. Since 1997 he has been Director of the newly established Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology in Bergen, Norway,and has led a research group at the Centre studying the molecular genetics of Oikopleura.
