[Employment integration of people with severe mental disorders : a critical perspective.]

This article constitutes a critical reflection of the scientific discourse on the issue of employment integration of people with severe mental illness. With first-hand observations, the author puts into perspective the limits of the current discourse on the benefits of work for this clientele. The "employment support" and "social club" models are briefly presented. Notions pertaining to social skills and psychosocial support based on the rehabilitation model no longer suffice to sustain an intervention able to counter factors maintaining these people excluded. According to the author, the reality of people suffering of severe mental disorders commands a structural intervention such as the one proposed by the social cooperative model.
