Insights
Interventional cardiology procedures are common, leading to frequent complications. This review examines cardiac and local complications from procedures like percutaneous coronary interventions and valvuloplasties.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Interventional Cardiology
Context:
- Interventional cardiology procedures have become routine in many clinics.
- The increasing frequency of these procedures necessitates monitoring and understanding of associated complications.
Purpose:
- To review and analyze complications occurring at various stages of interventional cardiology development.
- To cover studies analyzing both cardiac and local complications after diverse interventional procedures.
Summary:
- This review synthesizes data from multiple studies on complications in interventional cardiology.
- It examines complications following percutaneous coronary interventions, cardiac catheterization, and valvuloplasty procedures.
- Both cardiac and local adverse events are considered across different procedural phases.
Impact:
- Provides a comprehensive overview of complication rates and types in interventional cardiology.
- Highlights the importance of monitoring and strategies for reducing complications.
- Informs clinical practice and future research directions in cardiovascular interventions.
Abstract:
In recent years interventions in cardiology became routine procedure in many clinics. This could not to affect frequency of complications. From the very beginning of development of interventional cardiology specialists have been showing great interest to monitoring of complications and to possibilities of lowering of their rate. Data of several studies which consider complications at various stages of development of interventional cardiology are given in this review. It also covers studies in which analysis of cardiac as well as local complications after different types of procedures - percutaneous coronary interventions, catherization of chambers of the heart, valvuloplasties - was carried out.
