There are two ways to determine the amount of heat involved in a chemical change: measure it experimentally, or calculate it from other experimentally determined enthalpy changes. Some reactions are difficult, if not impossible, to investigate and make accurate measurements for experimentally. And even when a reaction is not hard to perform or measure, it is convenient to be able to determine the heat involved in a reaction without having to perform an experiment.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the implementation of the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for elderly people (HoNOS65+) in a psychiatric unit.
To determine the suitability of HoNOS65+ for clinical practice with older persons.
To assess if HoNOS65+ adequately represents the needs of the older psychiatric population.

Main Methods:

Training 51 social workers in the use of HoNOS65+.
Application of HoNOS65+ with 387 patients across various geriatric psychiatric units.
Data collection on patient problems, symptoms, and social functioning.

Main Results:

Social workers reported HoNOS65+ as a valuable assessment instrument.
HoNOS65+ demonstrated significant differentiation across treatment settings and diagnoses.
