The Phex Hyp-Duk/Y mouse model exhibits progressive hearing loss and endolymphatic hydrops (ELH) postnatally, with neuronal degeneration preceding structural changes. This model develops ELH without endolymphatic duct obstruction, offering new insights into ELH development.
