Summary

Computed tomographic angiography (CTA) accurately diagnoses extremity vascular trauma, offering a noninvasive alternative to conventional arteriography. This advanced imaging has become the preferred initial evaluation method at our trauma center.

  • To compare CTA with conventional arteriography in diagnosing peripheral vascular injuries.

  • Retrospective review of a 5-year trauma registry and radiology database.
  • Analysis of 52 patients who underwent vascular imaging (arteriography or CTA).
  • Comparison of CTA findings with conventional arteriography results and patient management.

  • CTA identified 17 abnormal scans in 38 patients, leading to appropriate management.
