Summary

Certain viruses like adenovirus-36 (Ad-36), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and respiratory syncitial virus (RSV) can infect human adipocytes, increasing interleukin-6 (IL-6) production. This may link viral infections to chronic inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes.
