[Experience in improvement of eye disease prevention in children]

Questionnaires distributed among pediatric ophthalmologists in the town of Dushanbe have shown essential shortcomings in the organization of prophylactic check-ups of the organized population. To improve the efficacy of the working time utilization by ophthalmologists, teachers and tutors take part in vision acuity check-ups, whereas profound examinations of children are carried out with the use of universal methods at field ophthalmologic rooms arranged directly at preschool institutions and schools. In order to accurately estimate the working time utilization by ophthalmologists, the authors have derived a formula, permitting the estimation of the number of working days necessary for prophylactic check-ups of the population. The authors claim that accommodation reserve training aimed at prevention of myopia progress may involve the maximal number of children only if such training is carried out directly at schools.
