Mesangiolysis: an update.

  • Clinical signs included proteinuria and hematuria.
  • Renal biopsies revealed mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis (MCGN), type 1.

Findings:

  • This is the first reported association between Down's syndrome and mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis (MCGN).
  • Hepatitis B virus and antinuclear antibodies were negative in tested patients.
  • The observed MCGN is likely idiopathic.
