A statewide Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) initiative: evolution of the Georgia CIT program

In late 2004, Georgia began implementation of a statewide Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program to train a portion of its law enforcement officers to respond safely and effectively to individuals with mental illnesses who are in crisis.
