Proliferative Phase01:20

Proliferative Phase

The proliferative phase typically occurs after menstruation and lasts between 6 to 13 days in a standard 28-day cycle. This phase involves the reconstruction of the endometrium, guided by estrogen produced by the developing ovarian follicle.
Notably, the stratum basale, the basal layer of the endometrium, including the basal parts of the uterine glands, remains unaffected by menstruation. Stem cells in this layer undergo mitosis, regenerating the stratum functionalis and thickening the...

Pericarditis I: Introduction

Pericarditis is defined as the inflammation of the pericardium, the thin, sac-like membrane surrounding the heart. This condition can cause significant chest pain and other symptoms, often necessitating medical intervention. The pericardium has two layers: the inner visceral layer and the outer parietal layer, separated by a small amount of fluid that reduces friction during heartbeats.Types of PericarditisPericarditis can be classified into several types based on the duration and nature of the...
Abnormal Proliferation02:23

Abnormal Proliferation

Under normal conditions, most adult cells remain in a non-proliferative state unless stimulated by internal or external factors to replace lost cells. Abnormal cell proliferation is a condition in which the cell's growth exceeds and is uncoordinated with normal cells. In such situations, cell division persists in the same excessive manner even after cessation of the stimuli, leading to persistent tumors. The tumor arises from the damaged cells that replicate to pass the damage to the daughter...

Summary

Garré

Area of Science:

  • Dentistry
  • Oral Pathology

Background:

  • Proliferative periostitis of Garré is a periosteal reaction.
  • It can stem from odontogenic or nonodontogenic sources.

Observation:

  • This case report details an odontogenic periostitis with an endodontic origin.
  • The condition presented as a periosteal reaction.

Findings:

  • Successful treatment was achieved through nonsurgical root canal therapy.
  • Antibiotic therapy was not utilized during the endodontic treatment.

Implications:

  • Nonsurgical root canal therapy can effectively treat endodontic-related Garré's proliferative periostitis.
  • This approach avoids the need for antibiotics in specific cases.
