Antibody-mediated rejection: a single center experience at Tokyo Women's Medical University

AMR is one of the most important risk factors for long-term graft loss and obviously prevention of AMR would be a most effective treatment to obtain excellent long-term graft survival. We can now detect low levels of anti-HLA antibodies using solid-phase and bead-based assays and our data show that these low levels of anti-HLA antibodies, especially DSA, could be a very important marker for AMR after renal transplantation. Once we can detect these antibodies, we have effective means to desensitize the patients prior to renal transplantation.
