A patient sustained a neck wound from a chainsaw, resulting in oropharyngeal disruption.
Contusion of the tongue root and hypoglossal nerves caused complete tongue paralysis, leading to immobility and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing).

Findings:

A multidisciplinary treatment approach was implemented, including surgical intervention.
A specialized palatal prosthesis was designed and fabricated to decrease the space between the tongue and palate.
Fluoroscopically monitored swallowing exercises were utilized to optimize rehabilitation outcomes.

Implications:

Custom orofacial prostheses are crucial for managing complex neck trauma sequelae.
This case highlights the efficacy of a combined surgical and prosthetic approach in restoring function after severe tongue paralysis.
Interdisciplinary collaboration and advanced imaging techniques are vital for successful orofacial rehabilitation in trauma patients.
