Abstract:
Historically, chronic pain patients have been treated utilizing an acute care model with little success. The present study examined the effectiveness of using a multidisciplinary team approach for chronic pain patients diagnosed with craniomandibular disorders. Preliminary findings showed that patients made significant functional improvements across both physical and psychological measures, despite the persistence of reported pain at the time of follow-up evaluation. These results demonstrate the relative benefits associated with the treatment of chronic craniomandibular disorder patients in a multidisciplinary pain facility.
