Reducing commercial fishing deck hazards with engineering solutions for winch design

A new emergency-stop system was developed to prevent deck machinery entanglement injuries for commercial fishermen. This engineering control effectively mitigates hazards posed by capstan winches, reducing debilitating injuries and fatalities.
