Idiopathic detrusor underactivity (DUA) in women may begin with reduced bladder contraction velocity. This early sign indicates a pathological process, not normal aging, leading to DUA.

- The progression to DUA appears to be a pathological process.
- This finding suggests DUA development is not solely due to the natural aging process in women.
