Surveys02:16

Surveys

Often, psychologists develop surveys as a means of gathering data. Surveys are lists of questions to be answered by research participants, and can be delivered as paper-and-pencil questionnaires, administered electronically, or conducted verbally. Generally, the survey itself can be completed in a short time, and the ease of administering a survey makes it easy to collect data from a large number of people.
Assessment of the Cardiovascular System I: Subjective Data01:23

Assessment of the Cardiovascular System I: Subjective Data

A thorough health history and physical assessment are essential for identifying cardiovascular disease (CVD) symptoms and distinguishing them from other health issues.
Initial Enquiry
Ask the patient about their primary concern and thoroughly explore all reported symptoms.
Medical History
Investigate past illnesses affecting the cardiovascular system, such as angina, anemia, rheumatic fever, congenital heart disease, stroke, thrombophlebitis, dysrhythmias, varicosities
Inquire about symptoms...

Summary

AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) can develop reliable client satisfaction tools with academic help. The Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) demonstrates this, showing valid results for assessing ASO services.

Area of Science:

  • Health Services Research
  • Psychometrics
  • Community Health

Background:

  • AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) are vital for HIV-infected individuals.
  • Assessing client satisfaction is crucial for ASO service improvement.
  • Developing tailored assessment tools can be challenging for non-academic organizations.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To guide AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) in developing client satisfaction instruments.
  • To present the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) as a model for ASO-led instrument development.
  • To explore effective collaboration strategies between ASOs and academic partners.

Main Methods:

  • Development and piloting of a 12-item Client Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) with 46 HIV-infected participants.
  • Revision and re-assessment of the CSQ (8-item) with 121 HIV-infected participants.
  • Factor analysis and reliability testing (Cronbach's alpha) to evaluate instrument validity and consistency.

Main Results:

  • The initial 12-item CSQ identified three factors: volunteer skill/access, attitude, and caring, explaining 74.6% variance (Cronbach's alpha = 0.84).
  • The revised 8-item CSQ yielded a single factor, explaining 67% of variance (Cronbach's alpha = 0.92).
  • The CSQ demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity for measuring client satisfaction in ASO services.

Conclusions:

  • The CSQ is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing client satisfaction with ASO services.
  • ASOs can successfully develop their own assessment tools with academic collaboration.
  • Guidelines and strategies for ASO-academic partnerships in instrument development are proposed.
