Clinical analysis of multiple primary malignancies in the elderly

Elderly patients have a higher incidence of multiple primary malignancies (MPM) than younger individuals. Smoking-related cancers, like lung and head and neck, show a significant association in MPM cases.

- Elderly patients exhibit a significantly higher likelihood of developing MPM.
- Smoking-related cancers demonstrate a significant association within MPM, supporting the field cancerogenesis concept.
- Other MPM occurrences appeared to be random, without clear etiological links.
