Summary

Posttransfusion hepatitis (PTH) incidence significantly decreased in surgical patients receiving homologous blood transfusions between 1986 and 1989. Active surveillance identified a declining trend, with no cases in autologous blood controls.

  • To prospectively determine the incidence of posttransfusion hepatitis (PTH) in surgical patients.
