Adding concurrent chemotherapy to radiotherapy for advanced oropharynx cancer significantly improves survival and local control. However, it also increases the risk of swallowing dysfunction.

- The main trade-off for improved oncologic outcomes is an increased incidence of swallowing dysfunction.
