Purpose of the Study:
- To report a novel tapered double clad fiber.
- To demonstrate its suitability for low brightness sources.
- To achieve high-power laser output with excellent beam quality.
Main Methods:
- Fabrication of Ytterbium double clad all-silica fiber using plasma chemical technologies.
- Tapering the fiber by a factor of 4.8 over a length of 10.5 m.
- Characterization of pump absorption, lasing slope efficiency, and beam quality.
Main Results:
- Demonstrated 0.9 dB/m pump absorption at 976 nm.
- Achieved 84 W output power with 92% slope efficiency in a fiber laser.
- Realized a 74 W superfluorescent source with 85% slope efficiency.
- Obtained robust single-mode operation with M(2)=1.07.
Conclusions:
- The novel tapered double clad fiber is effective for pumping by low brightness sources.
- This fiber enables high-power, single-mode laser operation with excellent efficiency.
- The developed fiber is suitable for various laser applications, including CW and pulsed regimes.

Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Fiber-reinforced concrete significantly enhances the structural and nonstructural properties of traditional concrete by incorporating fibers like steel, glass, and polymers. These fibers, varying from natural ones such as sisal and cellulose to manufactured ones like polypropylene and Kevlar, are mixed into hydraulic cement with aggregates. Steel fibers, often preferred for their robustness, contribute to improved ductility, toughness, and post-cracking performance. The concrete is classified...
Energy Stored In A Coaxial Cable
A coaxial cable consists of a central copper conductor used for transmitting signals, followed by an insulator shield, a metallic braided mesh that prevents signal interference, and a plastic layer that encases the entire assembly.
In the simplest form, a coaxial cable can be represented by two long hollow concentric cylinders in which the current flows in opposite directions. The magnetic field inside and outside the coaxial cable is determined by using Ampère's law. The magnetic field inside...

Thin-Walled Hollow Shafts
In analyzing a thin-walled hollow shaft subjected to torsional loading, a segment with width dx is isolated for examination. Despite its equilibrium state, this segment faces torsional shearing forces at its ends. These forces are quantitatively described by the product of the longitudinal shearing stress on the segment's minor surface and the area of this surface, leading to the concept of shear flow. This shear flow is consistent throughout the structure, indicating a uniform distribution of...
