Abstract:
Current concepts of intestinal fat absorption are reviewed and the aspects of intraluminal formation and the role of the mixed lipid micelle, the concept of the unstirred water layer and the role of the fatty acid-binding protein in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids are particularly emphasized. In addition, several aspects of intestinal lipoprotein production, secretion and metabolism are discussed.
