- Allele frequencies in Tehran and Yazd were largely similar, with exceptions for TGF-beta.
- Sistani & Baloch populations showed uniformity except for IL-1beta and IFN-gamma SNPs.
- Observed variations in IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, TGF-beta, and TNF-alpha frequencies when comparing Sistani & Baloch with Yazd populations.
Conclusions:
- Despite some regional variations, the overall cytokine gene polymorphism profile in the Iranian population appears similar to Caucasian populations, especially Italians.
- These findings contribute to understanding genetic diversity and potential disease associations within Iran.
