Abstract:
A granulosis virus was isolated from Estigmene acrea larvae by sucrose density gradient centrifugation. The viral DNA is circular with a molecular weight calculated from contour length measurements of 73 x 10(6). Digestion of E. acrea granulosis virus DNA with restriction endonucleases HindIII and BamHI gave an average genome molecular weight of 72 x 10(6) and revealed a DNA cleavage pattern different from those of other granulosis viruses of identical genome size.
