The fouling tendencies of seven commercial antifoam agents used with microfiltration membranes were investigated in a stirred cell. Parameters such as viscosity, oil droplet size distribution, contact angle, work of adhesion (W(a)), membrane type, operating pressure, and feed concentration were examined.
