Abstract:
Trephination was widely recognised as an achievement of many primitive cultures but until Dr Stephen Webb identified two Australian Aboriginal skulls it was not believed to have occurred on the continent of Australia. The technique and actual instruments used in New Britain for trephination are examined and the two skulls discovered by Dr Webb are presented.
