Twenty-seven cases of unilateral nephroblastoma were identified in 54 culled broilers.

Tumors displayed epithelial and mesenchymal components.

Viral particles, morphologically similar to avian leukosis/sarcoma viruses, were detected.

Conclusions:

Avian leukosis/sarcoma viruses are potential causative agents of nephroblastoma in broiler chickens.
Further research is needed to confirm the viral etiology and understand transmission pathways.
