Summary

The Symbol Digit Modalities test (SDMT) may complement the Paced Auditory Serial Addition test (PASAT) in assessing multiple sclerosis (MS) cognitive function over time. SDMT showed better correlation with disability progression than PASAT.

Background:

  • The Multiple Sclerosis Functional Composite (MSFC) traditionally uses the Paced Auditory Serial Addition Test (PASAT) to assess cognition in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
