Background:

Drug-eluting stents have largely resolved in-stent restenosis in coronary interventions.
However, challenges persist with bare metal stents, vein graft degeneration, and coronary lumen discontinuities.

Observation:

Restenosis from bare metal stents, embolism in old vein grafts, and coronary artery defects (rupture, perforation, aneurysm, fistula) remain significant interventional problems.
Stent grafts, incorporating a membrane into coronary stents, are being explored to address these limitations.

Findings:

Stent grafts show potential for preventing intraluminal proliferation, sealing degenerated vein grafts, and covering coronary artery perforations, aneurysms, and fistulas.
These devices demonstrate high success rates with acceptable acute complication profiles in case reports and reviews.
