Summary

This study shows a new laparoscopic partial nephrectomy technique using preplaced needles before clamping. This method is feasible and may reduce warm ischemia time for kidney tumor removal.

  • To evaluate the feasibility of a novel LPN technique using preplaced needles and bolster sutures.
  • To assess the potential of this technique to reduce WIT and improve surgical precision.

  • Seven female pigs underwent LPN using a technique involving preplacement of needles with attached sutures under laparoscopic ultrasound guidance before vascular clamping.
  • Resection was performed along the inner surface of the needles, followed by oversewing and bolster creation with LapraTy clips.

  • All seven pigs survived without complications for two weeks.
  • Mean and median WIT were 14 minutes 41 seconds and 15 minutes 22 seconds, respectively.
  • Estimated blood loss was minimal (<50 ml).

Conclusions:

  • Preplacement of needles with bolster sutures is a technically feasible approach for LPN.
  • This technique may serve as a guide for resection and potentially reduce WIT during LPN.
