Allograft reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament

This article reviews the scientific basis for the use of allografts in reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee. The possibility and incidence of postsurgical rejection and disease transmission with allograft usage are discussed. The operative technique of the author and the rationale for his postoperative rehabilitation protocol is explained.
