Summary

Removing titanium posts cemented with resin cement took significantly longer than other post-cement combinations. Fiber posts were quicker to remove than titanium posts in this study.

  • Posts were removed using internal coring for fiber posts and ultrasonic troughing for titanium posts. Removal time included radiographic confirmation.

    • Titanium posts cemented with resin cement exhibited significantly longer removal times compared to other combinations (P < 0.05).
    • No significant difference in removal time was found between fiber posts and titanium posts cemented with glass ionomer.

    • Cement type plays a crucial role in the retrievability of endodontic posts.
    • Titanium posts cemented with resin cement present a greater challenge for removal.
    • Fiber posts offer a potentially more retrievable option, especially when compared to titanium posts with resin cement.
