Outpatient bundling regulation would be costly for hospitals

A new federal outpatient bundling regulation could plunge hospitals into a costly billing and administrative nightmare. Among its provisions, hospitals would be required to bill Medicare for diagnostic procedures or tests provided to outpatients by outside suppliers--even if provided outside hospitals' outpatient departments.
