  • Center of mass (COM) displacement of the tumor was calculated.
  • Main Results:

    • Mean COM displacement after deformable registration was minimal (0.08-0.10 cm) across directions.
    • Maximum displacements reached up to 0.97 cm in the superior-inferior direction.
    • 15% of fractions and 33% of patients showed COM displacement > 0.3 cm.
    • Deformable registration was rapid, averaging under 1 minute.

    Conclusions:

    • Deformable registration enhances online target localization accuracy in liver cancer radiotherapy.
    • While rigid registration is often sufficient, deformable methods account for liver deformation.
    • This technique offers improved precision for image-guided radiation therapy.
