Cathepsin C gene variants in aggressive periodontitis

Cathepsin C (CTSC) gene variants are linked to aggressive periodontitis. Specific CTSC variants reduce enzyme activity, increasing disease susceptibility in individuals without Papillon-Lefèvre syndrome.
