Summary
The narrow segments of the common bile duct (CBD) in patients with choledochal cysts were found to be patent and connected to the pancreatic duct. These findings suggest the narrow CBD segment is a ventral pancreatic duct branch.
Area of Science:
- Gastroenterology
- Surgical Pathology
- Pediatric Surgery
Background:
- Congenital biliary dilatation, or choledochal cyst (CholCyst), is a rare condition.
- The anatomy of the common bile duct (CBD) in relation to the pancreatic duct in CholCyst patients is not fully understood.
